35 km. north of Bride-Les-Baines is Bourg-Saint-Maurice, the town is one of the larger towns in the French Alps, with the accompanying traffic, but that should not deter you from visiting the town, which is ideally situated for cycling on some of the most amazing climbs in the French Alps. I chose to park and stay overnight for 3 days in a public car park, right opposite some of France's giant supermarkets and with a water park behind me. This way I had easy access to food and drink as well as the toilet and shower, so I didn't have to worry about running out of water when I showered.
The first trip went over the Comet de Roselend, again one of those alpine climbs that just keep on giving and it is long and never descends, but has 1 km that is flat approx. 11 km. up. At the top there is usually nothing apart from the beautiful view, but I had chosen the right day to drive up because at the top there was a large depot because of the Tour du MontBlanc Cyclo was comming by, this is probably one of the world's toughest bicycle races, with its 330 km. and 8300 hm. in one day, roughly the same as my goal was per Week. The riders were doing the penultimate climb, so they were naturally tired but in good spirits.
On my second trip I fell in love with a statue, I've probably been alone for to longe, but the statue La dame du lac that looks out over the Lac du Chevril is really beautiful and then it carries a sad story about a lady who wouldn't leave her home when the old town of Tignes was flooded in connection with the building of the hydroelectric power plant, which by the way, was never put into use. The ride up to Tignes is 25.5 km with a 5% increase in average, an unusually beautiful trip and when you are lucky enough to meet Jumbo Visma's 2nd team on the last few km from the top, it's just a little more fun. The Jumbo-Visma riders sat and enjoyed themselves and talked, while I had enough of just following along.
On my last day I drove up to Arc 2000, the ski lift goes to Arc 1600.
