Again in 2023 I visited the magnificent lake Lac du Bourget. The lake, which lies on the edge of the Jura mountains and the start of the Alps, is a real gem if you want to try cycling in the mountains and at the same time be able to take a dip in the beautiful lake. I was off for 2 laps in 2023 to Aix-les-Bains. My first trip was at the end of June in preparation for some friends to come ride with me at the end of August. The pictures are from June when the weather was fantastic, in August the weather was unfortunately not very good.
Remember you can download the routes to your Garmin computer or equivalent if you want to drive the routes yourself.
I have done the trip to Mont Revard many times and it is a must if you are in these parts. The trip to the Col des Pres, on the other hand, was new to me. A short beautiful trip with many height meters.
This route can easily be shortened by 18 km. and 600 hm. by avoiding the Col des Pres.
Two old acquaintances with an extra loop. This is a tough trip, both Col de L'Epine and Mont du Chat are some hard climbs., but with the small loop around the small incredibly beautiful lake Lac d"Aiguebellette you get a opportunity to relax your legs and here is also options for lunch.
This tour is one of the easier ones, but very worthwhile. There is really only one mountain to pass, as Col de Leschaux is an intermediate station on the way up to Montee du Semnoz. The climb is very long approx. 24 km. with an increase of about 5%, but fortunately almost never exceeds 10%. When you reach the top, you can look forward to a nice view and the opportunity to stock up, and not to forget a super fast descent, where you have to remember to turn left after approx. 7 km, if you don't want to end up at Lake Annecy.
Remember to stop at the beautiful suspension bridge Pont de l'Abîme, which probably means bridge of the abyss.
