117 km north of Molines-en-Queyras is the town of Susa, where I for the first time on the trip had to spend the night in Italy, I found an ok camper place near the ascent to one of Italy's toughest climbs, Colle delle Finestre. The camper site was distinguished by the fact that everything was free, even the electricity. The next morning I was ready, I had about a kilometer of warm-up to where the climb began, 1658 meters of altitude at approx. 17.5 km so approx. 9.5 on average, of which the last 8 were on gravel. Just after one kilometer just before a viaduct it rises to 12% - 13% for 500 meters, oops the breakfast was smoked, luckily it flattens out a bit and after a few kilometers you enter a tiny little road. Here you would think there are no cars, but there are. At a water point approximately 10 km up, the gravel section starts, cars also drive here. At the top, a beautiful view and a nice descent await.
The following day offered the old familiar Col du Mont Cenis, this time approx. 25 km. with 6.3% on average. Both the ascent and descent are much better from the Susa side compared with Bessans side, that I tried some weeks ago, but the beautiful peak with the lake is funnily enough the same.
